Dutch cellist Judith Groen received her Bachelor of Music with Honours in 2011 and graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp with a Master of Arts degree with Honours in 2014. She studied with Gé Bartman, Tirmora Rosler and Justus Grimm.

Judith received masterclasses from Marcio Carneiro, Gavriel Lipkind, Michel Strauss, Tomas Djupsjöbacka, Harro Ruijsenaars and Dmitri Ferschtman. She played in several orchestras: the Nationaal Jeugd Orkest, Vlaamse Opera Gent, European Philharmonia, Symphonica in Rosso, Mokum Symphony and Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. Judith performed as a soloist with the conservatory string orchestra of Antwerp.

Judith is a member of The Magic Strings. She plays in different ensembles, on many occasions, from classical to pop and rock.

Judith is teaching cello at the Muziekpakhuis Amsterdam and Muziekschool Barneveld.

Together with pianist Maureen Wong she formed Colour Collective. In 2017 Colour Collective received the Pro Arte award.

Judith Groen behaalde haar Bachelor of Music with Honours in 2011 bij Timora Rosler. Daarna studeerde zij verder aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Antwerpen bij Justus Grimm. Hier behaalde zij haar Master of Arts with Honours in 2014.


Judith volgde masterclasses bij onder andere Marcio Carneiro, Gavriel Lipkind, Michel Strauss, Tomas Djupsjöbacka, Harro Ruijsenaars en Dmitri Ferschtman. Ze speelde in het Nationaal Jeugd Orkest, de Vlaamse Opera Gent, European Philharmonia, Symphonica in Rosso, Mokum Symphony en Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. Judith soleerde met het strijkorkest van het conservatorium van Antwerpen.


Als uitvoerend musicus treedt Judith op in verschillende ensembles. Zij speelt in The Magic Srings.

Momenteel geeft Judith celloles op het Muziekpakhuis in Amsterdam en de Muziekschool
Barneveld.

Samen met pianiste Maureen Wong heeft Judith Colour Collective opgericht. In 2017 kreeg Colour Collective de Pro Arte prijs uitgereikt.

Maureen Wong was born in Indonesia. Before her first birthday, she moved together with her parents to the Netherlands. At 5 years old she started her first piano lessons and the following year she enrolled at the local music school in Amsterdam. Three years later, she entered the Royal Conservatory in The Hague where she joined the Young Talent-department studying with Marlies van Gent and later with Kamilla Bystrova. Here she received her Bachelor's degree and her Master of Music degree under the guidance of the renowned pianist and pedagogue Naum Grubert.

She has been together with the cellist Judith Groen as a classical chamber music duo for many years. With their fixed partnership in chamber music as a backbone they founded Colour Collective wherein they unfold their creativity with a variety of different artists. At the moment Maureen resides in Antwerp where she set up a private piano studio. Music is Maureen's way to understand and communicate with the world.

In 1996 she won the first prize (solo) and second prize (duo) at the Maassluise Muziekweek, the next year she won again a first prize.
In 1998 she won the first prize at the Prinses Christina Concours and a second prize at the Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland.
In 2000 she received a second prize at the S. J. M. N as well.
In 2001 she won a second prize at the Inter Provinciaal Concours and a first prize at the S. J. M. N. with her quatre-mains piano duo. The jury chose her quatre-mains duo to represent the Netherlands at the international piano duo competition of the EMCY (European Union of Music Competitions for Youth).

Maureen has been heard on channels of Dutch TV and Radio. And she has played with such orchestras as the Jeugd Orkest Nederland, a Romanian conservatory orchestra, the Musica Ducis Brabantiae, The Hague Residence Orchestra under the baton of Jaap van Zweden and the Chernigiv Phylharmonic (Ukraine).

She has performed in the Netherlands, Belgium, the U. K., Italy, Romania and Ukraine and she has taken masterclasses with Tamara Poddoumnaia, Theo Olof, Elza Kolodin, Tatjana Zelikman, Philip Martins, Jerome Rose, Daniel Wayenberg, Michail Markov, Valery Kozlov, Marietta Petkova, Irina Zaritskaya, Pavlina Dokovska, Cyprien Katsaris, Vladimir Shakin, Irina Morozova, Alexander Volkov, Vladimir Tropp, Pedro Carboné, Rian de Waal, Geoffrey Madge, Anton Kuerti, Ellen Corver, Pascal Devoyon and Dmitri Bashkirov.

De ouders van Maureen Wong verhuisden nog vóór haar eerste levensjaar vanuit Indonesië naar Nederland. Sinds haar vijfde speelde zij piano maar mocht pas vanaf haar zesde op pianoles aan de muziekschool te Amsterdam.
Op negenjarige leeftijd werd zij toegelaten tot de Jong Talent-afdeling aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium te Den Haag alwaar zij les kreeg van Marlies van Gent en later van Kamilla Bystrova. Inmiddels heeft zij haar diploma Master of Music behaald aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium onder begeleiding van de gerennomeerde pianist en pedagoog Naum Grubert.

Zij vormt met de celliste Judith Groen een vast kamermuziek duo. Vanuit hun nauwe samenwerking is Colour Collective ontsproten waarbij zij collaboraties aangaan met andere muzikanten en artiesten uit verschillende genres. Momenteel leeft Maureen in Antwerpen. Vanuit haar pianostudio voert zij haar eigen lespraktijk en en werkt ze aan de muziek- deels voor haar activiteiten als uitvoerend musicus. Muziek maken is voor Maureen een manier om de wereld te begrijpen en contact te maken.

In 1996 won Maureen bij de Maassluise Muziekweek een eerste prijs (solo) en een tweede prijs (duo), in het daaropvolgende jaar heeft zij ook een eerste prijs gewonnen.
In 1998 heeft ze een eerste prijs bij het Prinses Christina Concours gewonnen en een tweede prijs bij het Inter Provinciaal Concours en bij het Stichting Jong Muziektalent Nederland. In 2000 heeft ze wederom een tweede prijs behaald bij het S.J.M.N. In 2001 behaalde zij een tweede prijs bij het I.P.C. met haar pianoduo en in datzelfde jaar wonnen ze als duo ook een eerste prijs bij het S.J.M.N.
Door de jury werd haar pianoduo uitgekozen om Nederland te vertegenwoordigen op het internationaal piano duo concours van de EMCY (European Union of Music Competitions for Youth).
Maureen is te horen geweest op verschillende radio- en t.v.-programma's. Voorts speelde Maureen met het Roemeens Conservatorium Orkest, het Musica Ducis Brabantiae (het voormalig Brabants Kamerorkest), het Residentieorkest onder leiding van Jaap van Zweden en de Chernigiv Phylharmony in de Oekraïne.

Maureen heeft concerten gegeven in Nederland, België, Italië, Roemenië, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en Oekraïne. Ook volgde zij diverse masterclasses bij Tamara Poddubnaya, Theo Olof, Elza Kolodin, Tatjana Zelikman, Philip Martins, Jerome Rose, Daniel Wayenberg, Michail Markov, Valery Kozlov, Marietta Petkova, Irina Zaritskaya, Pavlina Dokovska, Cyprien Katsaris, Vladimir Shakin, Irina Morozova, Alexander Volkov, Vladimir Tropp, Pedro Carboné, Rian de Waal, Geoffrey Madge, Anton Kuerti, Ellen Corver, Pascal Devoyon en Dmitri Bashkirov.
